Inauguration

Inauguration happens on Friday afternoon beginning with flag lowering and followed by the ceremony of installing the Governor and the State Officers.  Prom dresses  are the dress for the Girls State citizens on this special occasion.  Music is sung, speeches are given, scholarships are awarded, tears are cried.  It’s the perfect ending to a week at Iowa Girls State!

Inauguration will be on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. , immediately following flag lowering at 5:15 p.m. outside the Olmsted Building at Drake University, Des Moines, IA.
